Before reporting an issue (on IRC)
If you have troubles getting sound with PulseAudio, we would like to help you. You can join IRC #pulseaudio on freenode, and describe your problem.
Before you ask, here are some basic things you should dump somewhere (like on pastebin):
- First of all, try to update your version to the latest release, or build PulseAudio from git.
- Read FirstSteps, and if it's a particular application issue, check PerfectSetup
- What is your environment?
- Distribution
- Linux version (uname -a for example)
- What is your hardware (cat /proc/asound/{version,cards,card*/*/*}, check if it's known BrokenSoundDrivers.
- Stop all instances of PulseAudio, and run pulseaudio -vvvv as regular user. Paste it somewhere.
- If PulseAudio starts, paste pacmd list and pacmd dump
- If you have playback issue (stuttering/crackling), have you tried adding tsched=0 in your default.pa
